È stato il festival delle consacrazioni e delle novità.

È stata una consacrazione, certificata dal boom di corti iscritti e dal riscontro di pubblico, il fatto che il festival abbia ormai una dimensione internazionale che, dopo l’Europa, inizia a raggiungere l’America e il vicino Oriente.

Sono state le novità (web-series, corti con il telefonino, anteprime italiane dei cineasti europei del futuro, il concorso inedito dei corti prodotti dagli allievi della nostra Academy) a dare brio e curiosità ad un pubblico sempre, e giustamente, più esigente nei nostri confronti.

È stato, questo appena finito, un festival di transizione tra i primi 10 anni di crescita e i prossimi 10 anni in cui punteremo alla trasformazione definitiva in un grande evento stabile atteso in tutto il mondo come punto di riferimento per il mondo del cinema breve.

Siamo stati in 45, tutti volontari tra i 18 e i 40 anni, tutti determinati a raggiungere un obiettivo semplicissimo, organizzare un grandissimo evento nella nostra città e divertirci nel farlo. Missione compiuta!

Per una settimana la città è stata al centro dell’attenzione mediatica del mondo del cinema breve e non solo. Ogni sera, tra le centinaia di persone che gremivano l’Antares, la percentuale di persone che accorrevano dai paesi limitrofi era altissima. Decine di professionisti sono accorsi per partecipare al festival da Iran, Regno Unito, Spagna, Germania, Polonia, Russia, altri sarebbero dovuti venire ma sono saltati per imprevisti vari. Queste persone sono state a Ceccano, si sono godute la città, il festival, il cibo, si sono innamorate della nostra accoglienza e si sono già prenotate per tornare il prossimo anno. Nota da tenere a mente: fatta eccezione per i premi e i biglietti aerei e ferroviari, ogni euro speso (stiamo facendo ancora i conti ma questa edizione dovrebbe essere costata attorno ai 4mila euro) è stato speso a Ceccano, tutti i nostri fornitori sono ceccanesi. A questo vanno aggiunti gli introiti spontanei che comunque sono stati alti vista la mole di persone che è stata in città in questa settimana. Il Festival, oltre all’altissimo contributo culturale, fornisce quindi anche un grande contributo economico per la città in un periodo di grande crisi.

Detto questo, non vediamo l’ora di ricominciare! Portiamo nel cuore ogni minuto vissuto in questo sogno ad occhi aperti che da 11 anni portiamo avanti. Abbracciamo idealmente tutti coloro che abbiamo incontrato e conosciuto in questi giorni, tutti coloro che ci hanno sostenuto economicamente sia con la raccolta fondi su Ulule, sia con sponsorizzazioni private, sia il Comune di Ceccano per il sostegno economico e morale. Ringraziamo tutti gli spettatori, molti dei quali ormai fedelissimi, con i quali ci scusiamo per qualche problema tecnico che c’è stato nei primi due giorni, miglioreremo anche questo già dalla prossima edizione.

Un evento come il DFF è fatto di tante cose, troppe per condensarle in un un semplice ringraziamento, chiunque ci abbia aiutato, sostenuto, finanziato, sappia che ha un posto speciale nel nostro cuore.

It has been the festival of recognitions and changes.

It has been a recognition, attested by the explosive growth of the director that chose to take part in the competition and by the incredible response of the audience, of the fact the festival has now reached a truly international scope that, after Europe, is also reaching America and the Eastern.

Thanks to the innovation (web series, shorts shot with the smartphone, italian premiere of the european filmmakers of the future and the contest for our pupils of the Academy) to give a fresh feel to an audience that is always been demanding, and rightly so.

It has been the festival of the transition between our first 10 years of growth and the next 10 in which we will aim to the final transformation that will make thise festival a great and solid event awaited as a reference and landmark for the world of short films.

We are 45, all volunteers between 18 and 40 years old, whom only simple target was organize a great event in our city and have fun doing it. Mission accomplished!

For a week our city has been at the center of the media attention of both the world of short films and beyond. Every night, among the hundreds of people in the Antares, the share of people coming from the bordering towns was incredible. Dozens of professionals came to participate in the festival from Iran, the United Kingdom, Spain, Germany, Poland, Russia and others wanted to come but couldn’t for unexpected problems. These people stayed in Ceccano and enjoyed the city, the festival, the food, they fell in love with our hospitality and they are already booking for the next year. Important note: except for the prizes and the train and plane tickets, every euro spent (we’re still counting but this edition did cost around 4.000 euros) was spent in Ceccano and every single one of our suppliers is from Ceccano. After adding the spontaneous expenses of the peoples that came to the festival it’s clear that the economical contribution to the city in a period of crisis was massive.

Having said that, we can’t wait to get started again! We carry in our hearts every minute lived in this open-eyed we’ve been living for 11 years. We want to thank each and every one of the people we met and got to know during these days, everyone that supported us economically both through Ulule and by private sponsors and of course the Municipality of Ceccano for its economical and moral support. We thank the spectators, most of them now a loyal presence, and we apologize for the technical difficulties we encountered during the first two nights, we’re already working on fixing it up for the next edition.

An event like the DFF is a lot of things, way too much to be contained in a simple “thank you”, so everyone that helped us, supported us, financed us, you have a very special place in our heart.
