A pochi mesi dall’uscita dell’attesissima terza stagione della serie di culto Twin Peaks, durante la dodicesima edizione del Dieciminuti Film Festival (dal 24 al 28 Gennaio, Cinema Teatro Antares, Ceccano Fr), la sezione Esplorazioni sarà dedicata al regista David Lynch. Durante le serate del 26 e 27 uno spazio sarà rivolto al poliedrico ed enigmatico cineasta statunitense.

Parlare del cinema lynchiano significa spaziare in un ampio universo artistico, nel quale elementi e tematiche ricorrenti hanno fatto affezionare gli spettatori al surrealismo, agli enigmi e alle scene disturbanti che contraddistinguono la sua opera. Esistono dei tratti della personalità di Lynch che si riflettono inevitabilmente nella sua arte, quest’anno al Dieciminuti abbiamo deciso di volerli esplorare insieme alla platea. Il lato poliedrico di un artista a tutto tondo, che oltre ad essere uno dei registi e sceneggiatori contemporanei di maggior successo spettatoriale, si è occupato di scrittura, pittura, composizione musicale, animazione, scultura e meditazione. Proprio questa multidisciplinarietà e il legame che ha con le opere filmiche è ciò che verrà affrontato durante le due serate. Per comprendere meglio insieme l’arte di David Lynch, vedremo come tematiche ricorrenti nei film siano state espresse dal regista anche attraverso altre forme e modelli, come la narrazione breve, che è alla base del Dieciminuti Film Festival. Ponendoci come scopo quello di indagare l’idea che è alla base del cinema di Lynch lo spazio dedicato al cineasta statunitense sarà un luogo di immersione attraverso musiche, letture e proiezioni di opere sperimentali.

All’Antares, il 26, saranno proiettati, Six Men Getting Sick il film breve sperimentale di animazione del 1966 e Dumbland la serie animata realizzata in Flash del 2002. Si parlerà di come le arti visive, la pittura e la scultura siano presenti come elementi chiave nel linguaggio filmico di Lynch.
Continuando il percorso di ricerca il 27 ci si soffermerà su The Alphabet del 1968, rappresentazione in movimento di un “Incubo-Filastrocca” collocato in un ambiente baconiano, pittore di grande ispirazione per Lynch. Fino ad arrivare a Rabbits, del 2002, una mini serie satirica che colpisce il genere della sit-com incentrata sulla alienazione che Lynch ha messo in scena servendosi di una famiglia di conigli antropomorfi, interpretati da Naomi Watts, Scott Coffey e Laura Elena Harring, attori già presenti in Mulholland Drive film del 2001.

Chiunque abbia voglia di immergersi in una dimensione onirica e di conoscere i lati più nascosti del regista di Velluto Blu e Twin Peaks sarà il benvenuto al Cinema Teatro Antares di Ceccano dove dal 24 al 28 Gennaio si terrà la dodicesima edizione del Dieciminuti Film Festival.

EXPLORATIONS: DAVID LYNCH

Few months awaits the release of the third season of the famous TV show Twin Peaks, and to celebrate it, a section of Dieciminuti Film Festival (which will last from the 26th to the 28th of January, at Antares movie theatre in Ceccano, Italy) will be dedicated to the enigmatic and eclectic film director David Lynch.

Discussing Lynch’s works implies the will of looking at a whole artistic universe, which consists of recurring topics that characterise his ideas, revolving around surrealism, mysteries and disturbing scenes. This year we decided to explore some of the author’s personality main traits to have a better understanding of his works. At Dieciminuti, altogether with the audience, we are willing to take a look at the multifaceted aspects of this all-round artist, who not only is one of the most loved screenwriter and director of our times, but who’s also focused on literature, music, animation, sculpture and meditation. All this aspects and the way they’re linked to the works will be the theme of the evenings of the 26th and the 27th. Lynch’s recurring topics took form in many different ways, one of which is the short movie, which also is the main theme of Dieciminuti Film Festival. The aim is to analyse the idea behind David Lynch’s works, by showing music, readings and experimental movies.

On the 26th, the short experimental animated movie of 1966 Six Men Getting Sick and the animated series made with Flash of 2002 Dumbland, will be showed at Antares movie theatre. Taking the cue from this, the main aim will be to discuss how visual arts, both painting and sculpture, influence deeply Lynch’s work. The retrospective will continue on the 27th, by showing 1968 The Alphabet – a “nursery rhyme-nightmare” placed in a Baconian scene, as the painter is dear to the director. The last mini-series showed will be 2002 Rabbits: a satire intertwined with the sit-com genre, of which its main topic is the concept of alienation, personified by a family of rabbits played by Naomi Watts, Scott Coffey and Laura Elena Harring, who are also the actors who starred in 2001 Mulholland Drive.
